Brianna's Biography
A native of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, Brianna began her dance career at Fran Peters’ Studio of Dance, a premier award-winning competition studio in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Fran’s Studio provided a strong foundation in ballet, tap, and jazz techniques from 2001 to 2008. In 2007, Brianna joined the company of another premier competition Washington area studio, Agency 9 Dance Studio, under the direction of CJ Hitchcock, where she danced from 2007 to 2012. From 2009 to 2012, Brianna studied privately with the illustrious Monica Johnson, MJ International Dance Experience (MJIDE), where she developed a deeper love for pointe and advanced quickly in her training. Brianna was a pre-professional company member of Capitol Movement, Inc. under Stephanie Jojokian and Nicole Klett, where she developed her passion for contemporary dance from 2011 to 2015.
She has also trained at various seasonal intensives and residency programs, including but not limited to, the Debbie Allen Dance Academy (Los Angeles, CA), The Rock School of Ballet (Philadelphia, PA), The Maryland Youth Ballet (Silver Spring, MD), and the Dance Theatre of Harlem Youth Residency (Washington, DC). Additionally, she has performed at renowned venues such as Walt Disney World, FedEx Field, home to the Washington Football Team (MD), and the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts (Washington, DC).
Brianna is a former Washington Football Team All-Star dancer, a four-time Washington Football Team Jr. All-Star Cheerleader, a four-time member of the Cherry Blossom National All-Star Tap Team, and a former cast member of the Nutcracker with the distinguished Joffrey Ballet of Chicago.
She attended and graduated from the Center for Visual & Performing Arts Program at Suitland High School as a Dance Major in 2016. Not long after graduating, Brianna continued her love for dance and began her career as a dance instructor.
As an instructor, Brianna has found her style of artistry and begun telling her own stories through choreography. She enjoys creating a narrative through dance and mentoring younger dancers. Even as an instructor, Brianna actively trains to keep her skills sharp. She believes, "If I’m sharp on my technique and skills, my students will be too." She feels teaching is one of the best ways to give back to the community and equip the next generation of young dancers with lifelong skills and techniques.
Brianna recently completed a two-and-a-half-year residency as Head Contemporary Mistress with Chocolate Ballerina Company (Philadelphia, PA), where she was responsible for bringing to life the contemporary component of "Nutcracker: Dipped in Chocolate," the nation's first-ever all-Black production of The Nutcracker. In addition to offering private instruction, Brianna currently serves as the Head of Dance Curriculum & Education at a public charter school in Washington, DC. She also guest teaches, and is on the faculty of multiple studios throughout the Washington, DC metro area and Pennsylvania.
Brianna’s future endeavors include collaborations in Atlanta, GA; Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; Raleigh/Durham, NC; and a few international locations.
